Château Beaulieu, `Cuvée Alexandre` Coteaux d'Aix-en-Provence Rosé 2023

from £17.00

The recent winner of an impressive Bronze award from the Decanter World Wine Awards 2023, this rosé is described as following by the judges: “Floral with some honeysuckle aromas and on the fresh side with grapefruit on the palate”.

In the last decade, Provence-style, pale rosés have become all the rage, with multi-million pound marketing machines promoting them, from Whispering Angel, to Kylie Minogue’s own brand rosé.

As a lover of sipping rosé in the sun, I spent months trying to find the perfect rosé under £20 for summer evenings in the garden, barbecues or indeed any other occasion! I was delighted to find this masterpiece from Château Beaulieu in Aix-en-Provence, their Cuvée Alexandre, where the vines grow on volcanic soils, giving depth and minerality to the wine.

What I love about this rosé which knocks spot off watery imitations costing much more from the supermarkets, is its depth of flavour, with wild strawberry, raspberry, white peach, pink grapefruit and some pink pepper on the finish. There is more body and flesh here than in most Provence rosés and in maintains freshness and salinity throughout - a must try!
