about clos fine wine

Welcome to the website of Clos Fine Wine, your personal wine broker.

We’re fortunate in the UK to have numerous excellent retailers of Fine Wine, from supermarkets and chains like Waitrose and Lea & Sandeman, to outstanding local retailers like the Good Wine Shop in Kew & the Whalley Wine Shop in Lancashire, plus online retailers like the Wine Society and One More Wine Shop.

So, why another merchant? How are Clos different?

Integrity. Honesty. Transparency. The personal touch.

I strive to offer wines which make the stars twinkle, the hairs on the back of your neck stand on end, and the angelic chorus break into song. Value is the driver. Whether it be a wine for ‘everyday’ drinking (which hopefully says more about the wine than you!), or a Bordeaux First Growth, I’ll never, ever offer a wine that I don’t utterly believe in myself.

The world of Fine Wine portfolio management can be murky, with salubrious brokers often looking to shift unsold stock onto you which will never offer the hope of a return. I am deeply proud to have crafted and nurtured dozens of Fine Wine portfolios, treating each one as if it were my own capital. My portfolio clients enjoy a communicative, active relationship with me, no radio silence once you’ve paid your invoice: instead, market reports, valuations and annual reviews. Most importantly, my portfolio holders enjoy demonstrable success, something I wouldn’t have accomplished without their trust.

There is a place now more than ever for the personal wine broker, the voice at the end of the telephone, or just an email away, to advise on drinks for your summer party, your upcoming wedding, a portfolio for your Godchildren, or on where the real value is during an en primeur campaign, cutting through the usual “best vintage ever… again” bombast and sales talk. I hope that place can be filled for you by Clos Fine Wine.

ABOUT the Founder

West London born, I was a keen musician growing up (a pastime I continue to enjoy today), going on to study at Durham University. Upon my return to London a love of good food and even better wine began to grow, leading me to take my WSET Level 2 & 3 exams, which I passed with flying colours.

Joining the Fine Wine trade in 2016 it was immediately clear that this was the industry for me. I founded the portfolio management arm of a small wine broker and grew a client list who saw exceptional, peer-beating returns. The key for me was in developing close relationships with clients, underpinned by my values of integrity, honesty & transparency.

I am proud to have developed strong ties with wine distributors across the world, unearthing exceptional wines for drinking that don’t cost the earth, or securing allocations of the next big thing in the Fine Wine market. I thrive on good, communicative relationships with clients, always offering the same level of service whether you need a special gift or want to build an extensive Fine Wine portfolio.

I have a particular love for sparkling wine, with Champagne being my main area of interest, though I also trumpet the sheer value of outstanding Italian and Spanish sparkling wine, too. When it comes to regions, my head says France, but my heart is with Italy and Spain, and when it comes to grapes Nebbiolo is my favourite red and Riesling my favourite white.

I’d like to be your personal Fine Wine broker, too, so if you’d like to get in touch then you can do so by contacting me here.
