A remarkable, award-winning red wine for the price from CVNE in Rioja, made using 100% Tempranillo hand-harvested from sites surrounding the historic town of Haro and aged for 18 months in barrel for added complexity.
This is a house favourite at Clos Towers, perfect right out of the bottle or gaining extra breadth in a decanter if we have people over for dinner. At £12.50 a bottle this is a steal.
Nose: Red cherry, raspberry, wild strawberry, giving way to darker fruits like blueberry, black plum, intermingled with dried vanilla pod and flecks of coconut from the oak.
Palate: Incredible structure, this is an enticing red, with unctuous, juicy fruit underpinned by ripe tannins that give good tension. The finish is exceptionally long and takes me back to the streets of Haro in Spain. Super.
